It feels extraordinary to be able to travel overseas again. After being in the Bay and working remotely through virtual meets for the last 23 months, going back to Bangalore SUKRUPA,  meeting and interacting with all the kids, teachers, parents, and the Board members, above all the college students and the alumni who have been my strength all through pandemic was a total blessing. Seems like 32 days of my visit flew by in a flash.

Children being back in school is such a joyful sight. Their energy and happiness is quite contagious. All through the pandemic, we have engaged the kids learning academics through Digital Creative Learning Design through the phones as our kids nor as an organization we could afford laptops while we had to support families with basic needs, groceries and medical supplies.

Together with the Team and Board, we have planned to strengthen all our initiatives for the welfare of the children especially to bridge the gaps in learning particularly the academics, that our kids need to fair well to get enrolled in some of the best colleges in the city.

Thanks to technology, science and the service industry that supported the entire ecosystem during the pandemic and helped to move forward. However, who would have imagined mankind would experience starvation like the migrant families we serve did, during the onset of pandemic, as we are getting out of it slowly we are in the middle of a war. And right away the costs have already shot up. How all of this is affecting humanity socially, economically and psychologically will all unfold with time. However, we are preparing our younger generation through quality education and learning that would give them strength to move forward in the hardest of times.

As the new school year is approaching, we have planned strategies that would support effective implementation. Having experienced the toughest times we are bringing in a combination of various learning methodologies and training the teachers accordingly to provide creative methods of learning, learning through sports, field visits, technology and digital. Emphasis on science, maths, languages, geography, economics, design, and various art forms.

We have pledged to create opportunities for young people through our commitment for the last twenty years, including the hard times during pandemic we have sustained and continued our service.

We are thankful to GlobalGiving, all our families, friends, donors, corporate partners and GlobalGiving for all the support through the years.

As we step into another year of service we look forward to your continued trust and support.

SUKRUPA organised a Girl’s Group Meeting to form the peer groups and assign the buddies as mentors for 2nd PUC students and introduce the team of different leaders to their respective members. The students from 1st PUC to final year UG were part of the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was Understanding the students, knowing their interests and having an open conversation. Creating a mentorship design for the students so that everyone has a peer to work with. This formation of groups includes peer to peer learning, problem solving and skill development.

This helps everyone to communicate and share the plan/updates regarding their college and the skills they want to learn. All this makes them grow together, being a better version of themselves and implementing the skills learnt in everyday life.

COUNCIL MEETING WITH PARENTS

The parents of the students studying in SUKRUPA come from difficult backgrounds where their survival depends on daily wages. These parents have shown immense support and cooperation to make sure that their children do not have to go through the same plight as them. In order to keep that in check, SUKRUPA organised a parents council meeting with the aim of discussing any problems that they face with regard to children and how these parents can become role models for others in the community. Their active participation in being observant, not only at home but also in the community, helps in keeping an eye out for families that are in need.

SUMARGADARSHAK GIRLS LIFE-SKILLS PROGRAM

On 15th February, 2022, SUKRUPA organised a Life-Skills Training Program for the SuMargadarshak girls group. The purpose of the program was to delve deeper into understanding values and how they guide and become foundations of their lives. The day began with fun ice-breaking activities to set the tone for the program. Delving into questions that leads to introspection.

The list of the core Values were displayed as honesty, trust, respect, loyalty, peace, gratitude, responsibility and so on. The aim was to understand what values mean to the students and analyse which values they want to develop and the values they are applying in day-to-day life. There were 3 categories divided as Community, Family and Work and placing which value matters the most in which area of their life. Here comes the deeper understanding of values to have within each person and make use of those values to be applied in different phases of life and the space they enter.

Through this, they learn to develop every small value in life. Understanding a person better, helps in self development, growing towards success. This life skill program came to an end by conducting a game where all the values were utilised in a team. The activity was all about teamwork, concentration, trust in teammates and communication. The most important thing learnt was it's easy to say the values openly but the deeper understanding of every small value is important in life.
