Founder I CEO Speak - Krupalatha Martin Dass

As we are almost at the end of 2021, I am glad finally the schools have restarted with shorter classroom hours.

Although 2021 started off OK, April to July was quite painful for many Indians with the second wave. My mom and two kids at home got sick and my brother who was taking care of them got sick after two weeks and while the younger ones recovered my mother and brother due to diabetes and hypertension took almost four months to recover. With anxiety every day as I was not in a position to travel from California and the helplessness was unbearable especially when the oxygen cylinders were not available and hospitals were not an option.

Every day digital learning topics were sent to students keeping them engaged in learning. Teachers, SuMargadarshak students continued their collaboration.

In the middle of all this I took the risk and chance of recruiting a team to support me as I was working remotely with a tough time difference zone from March 2020. It was quite challenging to work with the new team, while the existing team worked with a salary cut.

As a small non profit working with a grass root community. It was a huge learning, the need to recruit a team who understand the essence of the cause, culture and need of the organization.

I'm happy to have been able to retain Subramaniam who joined back and continues as HR & management support.

Unity Day

School organized various activities to extend heartfelt appreciation about the life of the great leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel . The idea was to encourage the young generation to gain values integrated with the knowledge and adoration about the country’s rich heritage. A throng of activities was organized to support the cause of promoting unity and celebrating “National Unity Day”. Through students’ speech, they gave an insight into the life history and the role of Sardar Patel in the freedom struggle to establish a harmonious society. The occasion reaffirmed the importance of unity, integrity and security amongst the students and the inherent strength and resilience of our nation

75th Independence Day Celebration

Our 75th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on 15th August, 2021 in the school with the staff, students and parents to mark the 75th year of freedom from British rule. On this special occasion, the programme started with flag hoisting by the Teacher Ms. Faheem Munisa the head council and the school students and alumni addressed the gathering appealing to their nationalistic spirit and urging them to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility.

This was followed by a musical rendition by the school choir which sang patriotic songs that awakened everyone’s feelings towards the motherland. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity

Gandhi Jayanti Celebration

Students and teachers gathered virtually to mark the 152nd birth anniversary of Gandhi with patriotic fervor. To imbibe the true meaning of the day of the noble soul towards evolving a peaceful and prosperous world, a special interactive session was organized by the teachers. The students of the school paid a creative homage to Gandhi by making thoughtful posters, slogans and maintaining cleanliness in and around their house, showcasing the importance of saving water, the environment and eating healthy.

UN Day

On the momentous occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, students spoke on topics relating to the credibility, function, policies and effectiveness of the UN. The session was filled with intriguing aspects and views which prompted the audience to pose questions about the UN functions. Students were also addressed matters of current affairs in world politics in regard to the pandemic. The fruitful discussion energized the students in a positive way

Students together highlight the fact that upcoming economies should be given more representation.

They came up with Effective tools & strategies to create innovative solutions and gained skills needed to work, live and contribute in a global community. It was learning with so much fun which enhanced their life skills

Valmiki Jayanthi

On the 20th of October we celebrated Valmiki Jayanti with great pomp to pay tributes to the great saint Valmiki, who is regarded as "Adi Kavi" meaning first poet. He was a great sage and an author of the epic "Ramayana" which consists of 24,000 verses and seven cantos (Kandas). On this occasion, the students presented a number of literary activities including papers and discussed elaborately about the life of the great literary genius and his philosophy.

Salesforce Virtual Camp Verona De Sattva

As the COVID lockdown continued, we wanted to ensure our children continued learning and exploring new skills. SUKRUPA in collaboration with Salesforce and SuMargadarshak College students came together and created Verona De Sattva, a fun filled creative and educative Virtual learning Program for students from 6th to 10th Grade. We provided camp kits for each student which included learning materials which included stationeries items such as scissors, paints, crayons, glue, tape and as well as snacks to ensure that children are getting their doses of nutrition while working to create magic.

The SuMargadarshak college students played a pivotal role in creating groups, coordinating, encouraging and ensuring every student was actively learning. 80 volunteers from Salesforce came forward to conduct the virtual camp with great enthusiasm. It was an exciting program with 14 life changing activities to understand themselves better, know their strengths, build problem solving skills and discover their talents. There were five children in each group from different classes and two SuMargadarshak mentors for each group. On the first day of the camp all students, SuMargadarshak Volunteers, Salesforce Volunteers, Teachers and the Management gathered on ZOOM to get an understanding and start the virtual camp.

Smart phone distribution

During the pandemic, many students had difficulties connecting online as they didn’t have access to a smartphone. In order to continue learning through online, we at SUKRUPA felt the inevitable need for digital empowerment. We provided smartphones to 7 students from highschool ensure they got the opportunity to learn virtually
