Caring has the gift of making the ordinary special

Founder I CEO Speak I Krupalatha
As India grapples to save her people, we are in a war, where even the finest have no guarantee. In a span of 3 months, India lost 85311 people to the virus. Included in this death toll are the parents of some of our children at SUKRUPA.
Seven of our children have lost either the breadwinner of the family, the source of tender, loving care, or both. What will happen to them? Will they be forced to drop out of school only to start working at that young age? Who is going to guide them? What about their dreams, goals? Their future? The pandemic has shown us the ugly side of deep-rooted inequality, where access to even the simplest of resources is a daily struggle.
SUKRUPA is here to challenge the socio-economic effects of COVID on our children. During the first lockdown, we distributed groceries to our children and their families who are migrant, daily wagers, ensuring that they have food on their plates. We ensured that children continued learning with the help of our teachers and SuMargadarshak students.
We cannot give back a life. We can, however, ensure the security of our children. For this, we need your support. Help us ensure they don't drop out of school. Help us ensure they don't go hungry. Help us, so they don't get lost in this nig, ugly world. Help them enjoy their childhood, because they deserve it! Yes, COVID has affected the world at large, but this has also given us a glimpse of the good that exists. Humanity has only scratched the surface of its real potential.
Interaction with our special volunteer, Raveena.
Our students got the opportunity to interact with Raveena, a very special volunteer with SUKRUPA. Residing in Atlanta, Raveen spends time with our children on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 A.M. During this interaction, she spoke to the students about her interests, her likes, and her favorite subjects in school. Being an avid book reader, Raveena conducted a book reading session with the students. She is a highly motivated individual, with a strong belief in social justice, which would explain her drive to become a lawyer. What makes her special? Being a person with visual impairment, she has overcome her disability and followed after her passion.
"It was a very good discussion. Both Akka’s and my favorite subjects are science. Even though she is blind, she has really helped me a lot." Chaitanya - 6th Grade
"The session was very interesting and funny. She taught us about Grammar. I know I can do better and I look forward to learning new things." - Dhyan - 6th Grade
Thank you, Raveena, for being a role model for our students.
Future Leaders Forum 2021
SuMargadarshak is a scholarship and mentoring program for college students. As part of our new initiative 'The Future Leaders Forum' conducted by the SuMargadarshak student body, where through activities students got to understand each other better. They got to interact with Vikram Naresh from Brew my Brand on Creative Content Writing, storytelling through media such as journals, scripts, and social media content. Ms. Faria Ahmad from Paytm conducted a session on Life Skills for our college students and gave exposure to corporate culture.
“I was more than happy to wake up early for it. Through the creative writing session, I realized my interests. I got the opportunity to write my own story and identify my areas of improvement. Thank you for this opportunity SUKRUPA". Likitha 2nd Year Degree
"We got into groups and conducted the activities. It was fun to listen to the memories of school and college days shared by everyone. I enjoyed it a lot and I wish to take up a leadership role to build myself." Divya 2nd Year Degree
Let's Speak Up! with Paytm
Corporates have an immense impact on this generation and we should utilize the most of their contribution. Paytm helped us understand the ecosystem. Ms. Faria Ahmed, HR with Paytm, conducted a public speaking session with our students under the SuVidya program of SUKRUPA. They conducted two activities, focusing on making the children more confident about themselves and about speaking in public. Through Pick and Speak, children learned how to think and speak concisely and Make Your Own Story, using creativity to communicate clearly a story based on pictures shown. The takeaway from this activity was that the children were able to discover their own strengths in public speaking. Thank You Paytm!!
IT'S A SIBLING THING
"Half the time when siblings wrestle, it's just an excuse to hug each other"- James Patterson. The bitter-sweet relationship between siblings is always going to remain in our memories. The constant, "she took my t-shirt" or "he pushed me first" is something that we will look back on and laugh at. They are our best friends, sometimes, our enemies, our worst critic,s and our shoulder to cry on. They are our motivators and competitors. This is a picture drawn by one of our students at SUKRUPA. Happy World Sibling Day!
