The students of our evening and night school hope for a different future than the one offered in the streets of Curundu. These students were not able to finish middle/high school due to environmental factors such as poverty, parental ignorance or negligence. You can help brighten their hope of a better life by encouraging them through academic scholarships and securing a meal for the day - let them know that out there in the world somebody else believes in them. Together we can!
With a population of 20,000, Curundu has people with little-to-no chances for a brighter future, living under a ghetto culture that promotes the vicious cycle of stealing, selling drugs and prostituting to survive, thereby risking jail. Our students were not able to finish middle or high school due to uncontrollable factors such as parental negligence, parental ignorance or lack of familial finances. Hence, without a higher education, they are at risk of being pulled into the ghetto mentality.
Together We Can offers a special module that permits students (regardless of their current age) finish middle and high school. So with the help of the scholarships, our students will be able to achieve a higher education without having to worry about any personal or familial deficiencies regarding finances.
This project will help 89 youths and adults graduate from high school (around 15 students a year), allowing them to rise out of poverty and keeping them from resorting to a life of crime, making them examples to future generations by conveying the importance of pursuing a higher education. With education and values we long to demonstrate that in Curundu there are professionals ready to serve Panama.
