This project will support 70 urban slum vulnerable children who unable to afford school requirements, with scholastic materials and counseling to enable them enroll and stay in school.
There are over 20,000 orphans and other vulnerable urban slum children in Kampala City slums according to Kampala City Council Local Quality Assurance Survey 2007. Although Uganda government provides free universal primary and secondary education, many urban slum children drop out of school due to inability to meet school requirements like lunch, scholastic materials and boarding fees. This project will support 70 vulnerable children to enroll and stay in school urban slum areas in Kampala city
Youth Aid Uganda will support the vulnerable urban slum children with boarding fees and personal items for girl child, school uniforms, lunch, scholastic materials and counseling services to enable them enroll and stay in school.
The project will educate 70 vulnerable urban slum children allowing them to rise out of poverty, which will provide them with knowledge and skills for gainful employment leading to better standards of living in the slum communities.
