Nyalenda community is located in Kisumu County within Kenya.it is the 3rd biggest slum in Kenya after Kibera and Mathare. Majority of the people living here live within a dollar away, they can't afford a decent meal, a decent house to live in and affordable education to their children.
James Were foundation through various friends and partners have been changing lives and taking children back to school. With the change in educational curriculum, things have even turned worse since parents have to incur to fund the CBC which rums from grade one to six. We have been working closely with the community in ensuring that bright and needy children get access to education.
Our target has been 65 but our number has fell below the target because of lack of proper funding.we haven't gotten enough funds as we need USD 1000 to Carter for a full years fee for one student. JWF is in the limelight as 10 of the sponsored students have joined various public universities. We are expecting another 4 to join University by next year as they are currently sitting their exams.
JWF is in dilemma as the new government curriculum is taking a double number to high school next year.....the 9th graders and the 7th graders for both senior high and Junior high. We still believe in partnership with friends to achieve our targets. Let's do it together as we have been doing. TOGETHER WE CAN.
