My name is Florence Achieng born in 1997, August 22nd. I am an orphan, my mother died in 1998 while I was one year old; my aunt took me to live with her when I was three years old in Nairobi. She took me to school to start nursery in the year 2000.
In the year 2004 my father also passed away and the aunt that I was left with got an accident and her leg had to be amputated leaving her immobile, later she was treated but her life wasn’t the same again.
I joined Angaza girls program last year and since then I have been hopeful to continue with my education since I am not worried about school materials, school fees, sanitary pads and uniforms in addition I have developed essential life skills like self esteem, self confidence, leadership skills and sports skills as a result of participating in Angaza sports program. The leaders encourage me to pursue education to the highest level and I am determined to do so in order to help other girls because I know from experience that women are the backbone of the society.
