Educate 50 Blind Children in Karnataka

Two Day Picnic:

It was a wonderful day for many of our children. They never had chance to go out in a tourist place. We at Asha Deepa decided to take the children outside- a place where they spend their day with joy.  Then our teaching staff in consultation with all the children decided to visit Dev-Deva Vana, Bidar Fort and Barid Shahi Garden. All these three are tourist places in Bidar.  Just after the mid-term exam, 30 children of Asha Deepa were taken for picnic to these places.

Day-1: Visit to Deva-Deva Vana

We never expected that they will be so happy to sense the outer world. They jumped, played, screamed, cried danced and what not.  General public at garden were a mute spectacular. Day-2: Visit to Bidar Fort:

On second day, children visited Bidar Fort. Bidar Fort is located in the heart of the town and was built by 1428 by Ahmed Shah Bahmani.The fort takes up a high ridge of land which is enclosed by double rings of wall with nearly five Darwazas.A part of this castle is partly carved out of bedrock.

Parents Meet:

The parents meet was held on 15^th of October just a day before Dasara Vocation. A presentation was arranged to show picnic photos. The parents thrilled to see their children jumping, dancing and playing in a open ground. Each child was asked to give a feed back about their picnic tour. The parents were very happy. We felt that taking such outings will boost their level of confidence. Therefore, It was decided to take the children for picnic every month.

Dairy Project:

Since inception, we depend on donors and supporters like you. We have come so long because of your support, love and care. In future, we want to be self sustain-that means supporting our expenses on our own. Therefore, we are in the process of setting of dairy farm. The income generated from the dairy farm (sale of milk) will be used to support the school operational expenses. Asha already has funded 35 % of the total project cost.  Any contribution to this project is greatly appreciated as this enables us to be “self supporting” organization.

Dear Friends,

Greeting from Asha Deepa School for the Blind!

It is been eight years since our first child brought to school. In 2003, Mr. Sanju Kumar along with his younger brother who is also blind started this school in a small building with three children. Today, there are 40 plus children studying in the school from rural villages. It is only because all of YOU. Your generosity has helped us to grow from three children to 40 plus children.

 Activities at School:

Children at Asha Deepa learn Braille technique, Braille reading/writing, math’s, general knowledge along with thir regular state Govt syllabus. Along with education, they also learn living skills such as grooming, bathing; combing and walking etc. three students have completed their 7^th standard and successfully admitted in a normal school for their higher study.

 Celebration: 

Independent Day was celebrated on 15^th August. The chairman, AFWA was the chief guest of the day. Various competitions were conducted for the benefit of children in the school. Four Volunteers from Air force have joined the school as volunteers on this day. They visit the school every Sunday and teach English.

Parents Meet: 

The parents meet was organized in the month of August to discuss various issues related to their children education, boarding facility, food quality etc. Almost all the parents were present in the meeting.
