Light of Life Trust (LOLT) initiated Project Anando in 2005. Enlisted by GlobalGiving.org in November 2013 LOLT has been regularly receiving donations from generous donors believing in our cause and joining hands with us towards our efforts at meeting our vision. The funds mobilized through GlobalGiving.org was for the beneficiaries of Project Anando in Jalna District (Marathwada Region), Maharashtra State, India.
In the months of October to December 2014, a total of 45 interactive empowerment lead weekend workshops on varied topics were conducted in all the Anando centers in Jalna District with a focus on enhancing beneficiaries communication skills, developing positive thinking & confidence with sensitivity to absorb moral values to make life meaningful & joyful. The beneficiaries also received valuable tips on effective handwriting, and how to capably work with limited resources through an activity undertaken with material discarded by others.
Group work ensures high level of participation and reduces the chances of absenteeism amongst children. Several group work sessions were organized with 3 groups of children to reduce absenteeism.
In the month of October 2014 the beneficiaries were involved in Project Making and Greeting Card making activity since it was the Diwali (Hindu New Year) Vacation in schools and children had time on hand. This activity helped children to showcase their creative abilities as well as satisfy their curiosity regarding the topics selected.
In the month of November 2014, Sports day activities were conducted with children of each centre emphasizing on the fact that playing is equally important to keep self lively and energetic.
In this quarter 8 parent meetings were organized with the objective of enhancing parenting skills. Focus was on ensuring productive communication between parents and children, a rare phenomenon seen in rural families. Post the meetings beneficiaries shared that parents have started showing respect to them and they observed that their parents wanted to listen to what they had to say. This indicates that parents are applying their learnings during the meetings.
All the beneficiaries enrolled under Project Anando for the academic year 2014-15 in Jalna District continue to get the help as envisaged under the project to enable them to complete their secondary school education for 1 to 3 years, depending upon the class/grade in which they are currently studying.
