Light of Life Trust (LOLT) launched Project Anando in 2005. LOLT was enlisted by GlobalGiving.org in November 2013 thereby enabling our participation in the Winter Challenge 2013. LOLT is grateful to GlobalGiving.org and the Donors who generously donated to our cause and also made LOLT a permanent parter of GlobalGiving.org in the process.
Light of Life Trust organised Musical Concert by Suzanne D’Mello and Friends (a Bollywood Singer) at St Andrews’ Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai, India on 28th December 2013. LOLT also participated in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon held on 20th January 2014. LOLT has since received NGO Excellence & Leadership Award under Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Awards 2014 presented by ABP News at a award distribution function held in Mumbai (India) on 17-2-2014.
The funds mobilised through GlobalGiving.org was for the beneficiaries of Project Anando at eight Centres in Jalna District (Marathwada Region), Maharashtra State, India. A district-level event of Balkalamahotsav (Annual Talent Competitions) was held in Jalna on 2-2-2014 covering all Project Anando Centers in Jalna District. Our project children participated in various competitions, namely, dance, singing, essay writing, drawing, quiz, project presentation, elocution competiton, etc. conducetd on the day. Over 300 project children participated enthusiastically in the event. Mementoes, Prizes and Certificates were distiributed to the participants on the occasion. School Teachers, Principals, Government officials, parents and children of the locality also witnessed the event and encouraged the children during the event.
All the 406 children enrolled under Project Anando for the acaddmic year 2013-14 in Jalna District continue to get the help as envisaged under the project to enable them to complete their secondary school education for 1 to 3 years, depending upon the class/grade in whcih they are currently studying. All the students attend classes of Student Friendly Supplemnetary Education Programme (SFSEP) for coaching in English & Mathematics held daily before & after the regular school timings. These interactive sessions strengthen the basic foundation of children in these two subjects, which are stumbling blocks in children's education process. The students also attended week-end empowerment workshops as part of programme activities.
