Kiran (not her real name) is 14 years old girl from a very poor family in a slum of Bhubaneswar. Her father is a daily labourer and mother is a housewife. They are living in a make-shift shelter in the slum. Due to poverty her father could not able to support her education and tuition expenses. Kiran is a very bright student. Ruchika is running a Remedial Education Centre in that slum. The teacher identified Kiran and mobilized her to attend our remedial education classes regularly. After some months, Kiran excelled not only in her studies but in other extra curricular activities like drawing and sports. She was selected from her school to participate in the District level competition organized by Happy Bliss Foundation and got prize in Painting. She has also took part in the State level Jana Jati Krida (Adivasi Sports Competition) organized by the Government of Odisha and got first prize in High Jump and 100 meters sprint.
She is very happy and we are sure in near future she will must represent her school in sports events and bring accolades for her, for her parent and for her school.
