Project Report | Feb 21, 2017
New Year New Beginning

By Lilian Juma | Project Team

The students at Ruaraka informal schools have had great success.  We are so pleased with the results that we are now reaching out to other schools in the area and sharing our ideas and resources.

For 2017 program, our assessment on reading materials in the schools revealed that the schools are ill-equipped with learning materials. Our call for support in December raised resources to purchase reading and learning materials enough for the students who are the direct beneficiaries of the project.

Some of the areas in which we have contributed include the following:

  • Purchasing 235  curriculum books for the four schools
  • Money for student lunch subsidy
  • Teacher training programs for the teachers at the informal schools

To sustain the noble initiatives we have been implementing for many years in Ruaraka, the organisation plans to establish a learning centre for the needy students from Ruaraka and offer scholarships for the outstanding boys and girls in 30 learning institutions. We believe that every child has a right to education. Education is life; it helps equip one with the necessary tools to face life’s challenges; it opens doors to opportunities.

We are going to call for your support to enable us expand our programs to include additional students in other schools.  We look forward to your continuing support to help fulfill the dreams of our deserving children.
