2015 was a good year for the Class 8 candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination. All the partner schools obtained a mean grade of 250 and above out of the 500.Our team of volunteer teachers and mentors did a commendable job by providing additional support to the candidates who sat for the KCPE examinations. They provided teaching assistance and individually supported the children in most need through mentorship and remedial teachings. The top candidate in one of the eight partner schools scored 407 marks out of 500. This was an improved performance compared to 2014 examination in which the top candidate scored 402 marks.
One hundred and forty-two Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates are waiting for the release of examination results end of February 2016 and we are optimistic that they will all pass.
Progressive Volunteers, partner schools and volunteers involved in the project are happy the project is a success as more children finish school with a high level of literacy. 2015 saw an increased number of engaged volunteers in the program and partner schools.
