Dear Well Wishers and Friends of APD,
The Association for People with Disability (APD) is a non-profit organisation based in Bangalore. APD runs the Shradhanjali Integrated School (SIS) since 1973 - that takes in young children with disabilities and transforms their lives. SIS gives wings to their dreams . SIS has transformed lives of many children & they have gone on to become successful doctors, IT professionals, engineers and most importantly - Confident and Independent citizens.
Please find below few activities of SIS for the month of July , August and September 2017.
On 11th July, a Sponsorship meeting was held for the parents of minority children. From 17th to 21st July a Deaf Child World wide DCW Module Training workshop was conducted for the teachers with Group discussions and a seminar on Teaching methodology for the deaf. On 17th July, there was an Essay writing competition for the children in English and Kannada. On 31st July, the children of class V, VI and VII were taken to Pyramid Valley for an exposure visit where they were educated on the need and power of meditation. They were also taught a little basic meditation.
On 3rd August, the students from Standard II to Standard VII participated in a Skit competition. The theme was on the importance of education and the winners were given prizes. On 5th August , Formative Assessment II was held to help the teachers and parents understand the ability of the children and know what their current capabilities are. 9th to 12th August was a time of Festivity in the school where the children celebrated Varalakshmi Puja and Ganesh Chaturthi. The idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha were decorated with flowers. Children and staff participated in the puja and Prasadam was distributed to all. Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August by the children and staff and sweets were distributed. The National Flag was hoisted by the Chief guest and the leaders and Freedom Fighters were honoured during the programme. A Dental Check -up was also conducted in August for the Children from Nursery to Standard VII and the necessary medication was prescribed where required.
From 18th to 26th September, the Summative Assessment Exams were conducted for all children from Nursery to Standard VII.
School will be closed after these exams for Dassera vacations and will be reopening on 9th October 2017
