**Empowering Dalit Girls through Education:**
In challenging circumstances, Dalit children often miss out on education due to economic constraints and negative perceptions surrounding education. Some believe it's a waste of time or even a threat. At Nandri, we are determined to change this narrative by focusing on educating Dalit girls to achieve their goals. So far, we have educated nearly 1500 Dalit girls, with many more currently in the process of receiving an education. Let's delve into a few heartwarming success stories of these girls:
**Prathisha's Journey to Success:**
Prathisha hails from Maruthuvambadi village, where her parents work as daily laborers. As part of a family with three girls, they faced social stigmas and were not allowed higher education. However, Nandri stepped in and highlighted the significance of educating girls in society. Thanks to our support, Prathisha is now pursuing her second year of OTG at Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation in Salem.
**Thirisha Anthony Mary's Determination:**
Thirisha, a girl from a local village, faced a challenging childhood, with her father abandoning the family early on. Her mother, Silvesthira, struggled as a daily wager to educate her children. Recognizing her dire situation, Nandri extended its support, enabling Thirisha to pursue her 1st year of B Sc Nursing at Aadhiparasakthi College in Melmaruvathur.
**Gunaseeliya's Dream Comes True:**
Belonging to a Nandri village, Gunaseeliya's parents work as laborers in agriculture. Despite facing financial hardship and almost being forced to leave college, Nandri intervened just in time, allowing Gunaseeliya to continue her 2nd year of B Sc Nursing at Mailam College in Thindivanam. Her gratitude towards Nandri knows no bounds.
**Aashami's Educational Pursuit:**
Aashami's father works as a cook, earning irregular income by catering for weddings. Her mother, a homemaker, struggled to fund her education. In this difficult situation, Nandri stepped in and supported Aashami to continue her 2nd year of B com in the same college, opening up new opportunities for her.
**Sony's Unwavering Ambition:**
Sony, from Vellore, got married to Prakash, an auto driver. Despite her marital responsibilities, Sony remained ambitious about her education. With limited family income, her studies were at risk. Nandri understood her determination and provided full support for her higher education. She is now pursuing her 2nd year of B Sc Nursing at Blessing Institute in Vellore.
**Educational Statistics for Dalit Girls in Tamil Nadu:**
According to recent data, approximately 60% of Dalit girls in Tamil Nadu stop attending school after completing their primary education. This alarming trend highlights the urgent need for organizations like Nandri to continue our efforts in empowering Dalit girls through education, breaking barriers, and fostering brighter futures for them. With the ongoing support and dedication of our team, we strive to uplift many more young minds and provide them with the education they rightfully deserve. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these resilient and determined girls.
From all at Nandri, we thank you for your kind financial support of this very important project. Without your help, these girls could not fulfill their dreams.
