Book Dash is an amazing organisation in South Africa who gathers South Africa authors to write and illustrate children's story books. The books are designed to appeal to their readers, and so have wonderfully varied characters of all colours, reflecting our Rainbow Nation in South Africa. Their vision is for each child in South Africa to own 100 books before they turn 5.
African Angels has been so fortunate to receive many Book Dash books for our children and they have, in turn, been taken home, and widely shared with others. Since they began, Book Dash has distributed over 1 million story books to children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Sharon our Principal visited Ikhwezilomso Creche last Friday. Some of you might remember Lindiwe, our founding Grade R teacher's aide who worked at African Angels from the start of the school in 2012. Lindiwe started her own creche in her home in 2016, as she saw the dire need for Early Childhood Development in her community. In 2019, we 'transferred' Lindiwe to work as the lead teacher in her own creche, ensuring her oldest children (the 4-5 year group) were school ready. Lindiwe comes to African Angels once a week to exchange resources, do photocopying and reconnect with the African Angels teaching team. Once a term Sharon visits the creche, in a support and mentoring role.
In 2021 Lindiwe's salary has been supported by a German national who visited Ikhwezilomso Creche when he visited South Africa. We are grateful for his support of Lindiwe, and her passion.
Book Dash sent a wonderful donation to African Angels for the start of 2021, and Sharon took a selection for the children at Ikhwezilomso to take home. As you can see the children were delighted!

Thank you for supporting African Angels, and, in turn, Lindiwe and Ikhwezilomso Creche.
