Blossoms of Guyana and GuyKids plan to adopt a primary and secondary school in Georgetown, Guyana. This project will build the schools' first computer labs and provide the students and teachers with books and school supplies for the 600 students at the primary school and the 700 students at the secondary school.
Recent test results showed that only 30 percent of Guyanese school children passed their math and reading exams. Many of the public schools in Guyana are severely underfunded which leaves the schools without the necessary equipment and supplies to properly educate the students. Without proper funding schools can not afford to provide computers for student or provide libraries for children to strengthen literacy skills.
This project will allow us to build a computer lab in the school and provide reading books and school supplies.
This project will help bridge the technological divide and help to improve the educational outcomes for students.
