First the annual academic testing by the Ministry of Education, but then it is PURE FUN!.
All grades were tested by the Ministry of Education for all of Cusco's regional students and schools evaluated. Chicuchas Wasi School for girls always has been an example for other schools due to our girls enthusiastic achievements. A morning long serious and silent event yes, but the girls knew a fun plan was waiting for them.
They were off on a special outing to the Sacsayhuaman ruin, a former Inca fortress on a hill above Cusco. The wind was just right at the large Inca ruin and the girls were eager to fly their kites - a tradition this day in August. Laughter and cheers rang out from our group of 100+ girls. But there is more - another special treat was coming too.
A June visitor, Jamal, donated funds for a special 'FRIDAY' lunch until school ends in December. It was Friday and all 110 girls found a comfortable shady spot to have their picknic lunch. The girls were hungry and thrilled when each girls received her box lunch of French fries and BBQ chicken, 'Pollo a la Braza', a rare treat for our girls. Much gratitude for the thoughtfulness of Jamal who dreamed up 'Friday' special lunch.
Bellies full and bodies charged again, the girls began to spread out exploring the grounds. Some girls quickly found a stream that filled a small pool. All shoes were off in minutes and happy feet were dunked into this cool water.
What perfect timing after a busy week!
Chicuchas Wasi financial update
Our CW bank account is slowly inching up, but not enough. Today the balance is $33,852.25. We have been experiencing a slow down in donations and the dollar exchange rate in Peru is down affecting us, as gas, and food basics go up with nothing left for our small Graduation and Christmas celebrations.
Ruth sent the latest bookkeeping to our accountant with the tightest budget transfer that will be needed through December to January 2024.
After the last budget transfer the final school funding for 2023 is $36,900usd to Jan. leaving us a shortfall of approx. $3,047.75 to complete the school year basics like teacher salaries, school lunch, gas for school bus, with no funds for Graduation and Christmas. If you can - Please Donate.

Maria School business plan to support CW school for girls
Ruth has 5 children pre- registered for the Maria school year 2024 open in March. Soon we will generate the income to support the Maria school as well as the Chicuchas Wasi school for girls as Maria student enrollment begins for next March school year.
Cusco parents who demand quality private school education for their college bound boys and girls, plan to educate them at competitive foreign and national universities. We really need your donations now for the March 2024 start-up for longevity success in Peru. This is the perfect business for CW.org as the demand is high. Covid permanently closed down many private schools that were functioning unregulated in small rented buildings before Covid. The CW Maria school is a beautiful modern and colorful primary school built to deliver quality education and welcomed by the Ministry of Education.
Meanwhile please help us keep the CW girls school open. Until the Maria School enrollment is generating enough income, we will still need your support to maintain the Chicuchas Wasi School for girls that we continue to deliver at no charge to our poor families. Please see budget and donate. Thank you so much for the gift of education for girls. See images of CW Girls school and the new Maria School. We have achieved much in 37 years. THANK YOU
NOTE: Thank you all for hanging in there with us. We still have a little way to go yet but the impact of our work is self-evident in the success of our girls...some are at the university today.
