The 2nd Annual AIDS Race happened on the 14th of July. With over 200 runners and participants in attendance. We see this as a huge success of the previous year not only in attendance, good weather but also how members of the various communities came out in full to support the event.
After a lot of awareness which included visiting schools, sharing flyers, radio and tv mentions and not forgetting setting up a stand at the venue grounds, on the D-Day we had members of the Ghana AIDS Commission and the Cape Coast Metropolis Assembly all present. The day started with aerobic and warm up and then the start. The runners follow the same route as last year.
At the finish line there was a mini carnival section going on with music and dance. After the race, more than 200 persons got tested for HIV. There was also free eye test which was provided through the support of Darlinstar Opticals. Other supporters included; Oasis Beach resort, Berlyn Office Equipment, Franko Phones, Swanswan & sons, Oceanview Internet, Coastal water and a host of others.
We want to say a big thank you to you all. Next race is July 13, 2014. Email us at AIDSRACEGHANA@gmail.com to register to run, jog, walk, volunteer, support or sponsor a person or the event.
