The month of June is exciting moment for children and adolescents to start another important phase in their lives. This excitement also comes with lot of expectations for new things, like uniforms, books, bags and study notes. Orphan children from disadvantaged families have less access to such expectations as it is a burden for the care takers, most widow women and grand-parents. Buds of Christ over the last five years have supported orphan children with 500+ educational kits to feel encouraged and motivated to go to school amidst the challenges they face in their families.
This year the support was provided on 13th June 2014 at Buds of Christ to most deserving young children and adolescents with note books, uniforms and Bags. With the support of Global Giving 100 school bags and 600 notebooks were provided to 60 orphan girls and adolescents.
A widow woman expressed “I have one son and two daughters. My husband died when my children were very small. My native family is already poor, so they could not support me either. It was during that moment, I got a job as a sweeper in a local school where all my three children are studying. Though they are able to school, buying uniforms, note books and bags for all the three children with my meagre income is a big challenge. With the educational support from Buds of Christ and Global Giving, I have not been burdened with this for the last three years."
Buds of Christ has reached out to over 200 orphan children and supporting them in areas of Health, Education and Leadership Development. Global Giving Donors are our prime support in ensuring health and education of orphan children from most disadvantaged communities. We sincerely thank you and look forward for your continuous support and patronage.
