All girls appeared for class 12 public exam passed and are entering college
“I am Sivaranjani 17 years old girl. I am the eldest daughter in the family of four children. My mother who has not gone to school is a widow living with HIV. Belonging to the most disadvantaged community, opportunities were very limited. My mother being very sick could not go for work. Our family managed with the small pension money that was given to my mother due to her widowed status.
In this condition, when I was 14 years and completed my 10th grade, I had started going for work during holidays to support my family with additional income. Slowly my relatives also encouraged me to discontinue schooling as the cost of supporting my education was becoming a burden.
It was then, that Buds of Christ came forward to support me with educational support and now I have completed my 12th grade and will be entering into college soon”.
Overcoming challenges is not easy for orphan girls, but with the educational support through donors from GlobalGiving this has been possible. This year 14 orphan girls like Sivaranjani have been supported to continue schooling and are going into college. All the 14 are first generation graduates from the most disadvantaged families.
