Yashi is 17 year old girl living with her widowed mother. Yashi was born with the immune deficiency disease and is on lifelong medication. Her mother is also affected by it. She had been a below average student ,coupled with the side effects of the medication that affected her memory. At the same time ,she enjoyed schooling as she had lot of friends at school. She had failed in her 10th and that shattered all her hopes. But at the same time ,she was determined to complete the subjects she had failed.
Buds of Christ offered her support in partnership with GlobalGiving through the educational support programme in identifying a training centre close to her house and through regular coaching ,she cleared one subject and reappeared for the other subject ,after six months and cleared even that too. Now she has completed her 10th grade passing in all the subjects and is planning to take up vocational course in sewing and continue her schooling as well from next academic year. This will help her also develop a skill and support her family too.
Buds of Christ has been encouraging young orphan rural adolescent girls to complete their education. At the same time, some young girls due to their health concerns and other family situations are not able to perform well and for such girls special focus is being made by the staff through home visits and also support the girl child to complete her education.
