Dhammajarinee's recent news and opportunity

By Linda Wagoner | Director of Outreach

Big and little sisters

Dhammajarinee visitors notice the extraordinary sweetness in all interactions of older and younger girls. In countless ways, older girls give care and nourishment to the younger girls and the younger girls feel closeness and deep appreciation for the older girls. When younger students are behind in their studies, the older girls volunteer to do tutoring in the evening.  Photo below.

Graduates return to DWS

Over the last two years, nine Dhammajarinee Witthaya School (DWS) graduates, who completed their university BA degrees, have returned with new roles as:

Teachers

Kitchen organizers

Restaurant staff

Dormitory helpers

Shop operations and management

Although DWS helped organize university scholarships for these graduates, their choice to return and help is entirely voluntary, since they are not required to return after completing their BA degree. The graduates said, “We are glad to be back to help our school”. They have a deep appreciation for the special opportunity that studying at Dhammajarinee contributed to their personal development.   Photo below.

Coding Camp

In August DEPA of Thailand (Digital Economy Promotion Agency) organized a one-day training in coding. Eight specialized DEPA coding teachers provided special training, with 240 students and 10 teachers participating. The goal of DEPA is ‘to help people perform better, think fast and live better”.  DWS participants were grateful and happy with the special personal attention and training they received.   Photo below

Please note another special donations opportunity: 12–16 September

Dhammajarinee needs everyone’s help to meet the yearly student expenses of the expanding student body. From 12–16 September, donations up to $50 will be matched 50%. Every donation helps, with larger donations giving added momentum to reaching the goal. More details will be sent soon about this opportunity.

TOP Universities

Four outstanding Dhammajarinee graduates are currently attending two of Thailand’s top universities. Dhammajarinee has already proved that even girls who lack opportunity or come from problem backgrounds can unfold their full potential, attend university and be successful. Now with the new integrative education programs currently being implemented, we expect to see more girls attending top universities.

Dhammajarinee greatly appreciates the growth and success that your support of student expenses has made possible!!!  Food is always the highest and most challenging to meet
