Brief Activitiy Report

Uttaran started to implement ‘Schooling Items for 150 school going children’ project with the funding support from Globalgiving. The project started from May, 2018. In 16 May, 2018 Uttaran distributed school dress among 140 students of Samakal Maddhyamik Biddyapith out of which 70 were boys and 70 were girls. They received one set of cloth now and they will receive one set of winter cloth in the coming winter. Out of these students, 29 boys and 39 girls also received support for school materials. This school is situated in Jatpur village of Tala Upazila under Satkhira district. The students from Class I to Class VII received this support. These students came from extreme poor families. Some students came from religio-ethnic minority families. Socially they are very much vulnerable. Uttaran always try to establish their rights. It was very difficult for them to purchase school dress. Thus this support helped a lot for 140 students.

Case Study: The story of one of our students

She is living in Jatpur village of Tala Upazila under Satkhira district. She is a student of Class VI. Last year she obtained good result in Primary School Certificate Board Examinations.  She is living with her mother and youngest brother who are 6 years old. Her mother is a day laborer. Her daily income is 1 to 2 dollar.  Her husband deserted the family few years back. Now with her very low income she is supporting the study of her children. It is very difficult for her to manage all types of expenses of her children’s study purpose. Now the mother is very much grateful to get school dress support for her daughter. The dress is also encouraging her to do better in her next upcoming board exam. Her teachers say that her class performance has also increased over the last month and she is now more energetic. She mentioned that she does not feel any less than the other students of the class as just like everyone she is also wearing new and clean dress.
