GlobalGiving Site Visit

By Clinton Misamore | Field Program Officer

In mid-February I had the opportunity to visit Fundacion Mexicana para el Desarrollo Rural and the fascinating Educampo program.  This program has benefited over 2,200 people in 12 counties.  Quite substantial if you ask me.

Ricardo Emilio Ordoñe was my tour guide.  After picking me up and introducing me to his family we were on our way.

Ricardo is a seasoned veteran in the field of agriculture.  He was taking me to one of the educational workshops that Fundacion Mexicana para el Desarrollo Rural gives to the farmers-- a cooperative if you will.

What Ricardo didn't tell me was that he was a very gifted motivational speaker.  Waving his hands back and forth to a group of 20 farmers, he was explaining how they could collectively leverage their labor to enhance their output and inevitably raise their capital.

It was obvious that the Educampo model was well accepted by the farmers.  Everyone was highly attentive, fixated on Ricardo.  To me it was obvious that the results and impact were being felt.

I would like to thank Andrea Tapia and Ricardo Emilio Ordone for showing me the wonderful work of Fundacion Mexicana para el Desarrollo Rural.  This project has the full approval of GlobalGiving and I encourage people to support this educational effort.
