Project Report | Feb 2, 2023
Coffee Agroforestry Sustainable Food Security Project for Cultural Survival

By Datu Lanelio T. Sangcoan | Chairman

Philippines is affected by the 20 typhoons in every year. Natural disasters brought suffering and miseries in the tribal communities as they are always the most affected during typhoons. Last year, typhoon Rai claimed lives, destroyed properties and farms within the tribal communities. Tribal members suffered most of the aftermath of the series of typhoons and they had been satrved since their farms and properties had been gone.

Absence of food security and homes had been the very sad moments in their lives that geared hopeless. The tribal communities are dying of no foods and shelter that leads to frustration. Tribes and Natures Defenders Inc. extended support given by the GlobalGiving donors to provide immediate relief goods response to the badly affected tribal communities. We distributed rice, canned goods and personal hygiene.

After that, we saw that the one time food distribution is not sustainable that is why asked again another support of sustainable income generating project. The GlobalGiving donors supported again the follow up food security project which is the " Coffee Tree Production" to address the needs of food security. Coffee will be sustainable and give income generating project to women, youth and elders.

The coffee productin will build tribal economy and create natures defense for the indigenous peoples who are deprived and received less of funds from the society.

For this, we are happy to share our update report to GlobalGiving and forever grateful for the support of the project coffee plantation.

Thank you so much donors and GlobalGiving for the privilege of helping us for cultural survival.
