Save the Sacred Forest and Build Tribal Economy

Tribes and Natures Defenders Inc. is working hard to address issues and concern of the indigenous peoples communities who had been very deprived and forgotten of any support. It is the mission of the organization to respond the needs of the typhoon affected indigenous peoples in Mindanao to avail support and care.

The organization faced challenges due to the lack of funds to answer the call of the calamity victims. Higa-onon indigenous peoples are in need of immediate support and interventions to save the dying tribes and natures. We need to find solutions to bring hope, provide sustainable livelihoods and regenerate denuded lands through coffee agrofrestry reforestation project. The organization also include the women to do backayrd gardening to plant rootcrops to help family survive during natural disasters.

The organization works with the tribal communities to build tribal economy by planting rootcrops, coffee and banana. Create natures defense is to do reforestation project through agrofestry and planting native trees to help fight climate change.

Those activities had been implemented through the kind support of the GlobalGiving that put the project into reality. The organization is forever grateful for the continuing support of the GlobalGiving in responding the needs of the tribes during hard time.
