HIV/AIDS

  • Counselling has been carried on e.g VCT in our communities and referrals have been
made to clinical centres to help in creation of self awareness.
  • There is no much stigma, stress in communication.
  • Balanced diet has not been maintained properly due to long droughts experienced
from early this year to August.
  • Our members on ARV s are improving in taking drugs and there are some changes that
    are static in taking drugs.

Agriculture:

Most grown crops grown this year are maize, beans, Sukuma, Soya and ground nuts.

These seeds given to women and planted are: - maize, beans, sukuma, are planted and doing well in Busia, Tororo and Amonikakine. Bugiri has little rain.

Members have maintained local goats, local poultry and piggery on small scale in

their homes.

Care for OVC

All the four groups practice care for vulnerable and orphans.

Some members keep these very needingly OVC in their homes and centres where
they take care of them.

We still take care for the old women by giving them food and some simple help affordably. At times they get porridge and lunch at school mostly is for R WEN  group.

Tailoring

Some youth women have been referred to PEFO for more training and some have
already established and work on the owner so as hair dressing.

They can get some little money to earn a living.

Crafts

Women make mats and baskets for sell mostly in Bugiri.

Tree planting:

All women have tried to plant trees in all groups.

Charcoal making

Women have learnt to make the charcoal out of mad and small particles of charcoal
which they use for cooking in their homes, mostly done by Tororo women.

HIV/AIDS - Drama Group

This group keeps on helping the communities in sensitization ofHTV/AIDS through
drama.

Women (PLW) people living with HIV/AIDS have overcome stigma.

Day care centres

We are making this project and children are feed although there isn't enough food.

We use beans and posho then porridge.

Child headed families

These families have a big problem in getting food and other needs of life. We give the
little assistance that we can afford.

Visitors

In mid September we hosted Mama Jaya from USA in Florida from River Fund. We
had good time with her in Busia,

Developments

Taking of drugs (SeptrinefARVs) has improved.

There is hope for better yields of crops planted from seeds given to women - Beans, maize, cabbage and other groups like Sweet potatoes, Cassava, G nuts, Matooke, Sim sim, white peas and green vegetables.

Women are happy, strong and health.

Challenges

  1. Bugiri area continues to have no rain and there will be no good yield of crops.
  2. Transport for taking out a drama group is a big problem to the groups. For had wanted
them to go to further areas for sensitization.

Suggestion

Day care centres should be created for every group to take care to feed elderly,
widows, children with HIV/AIDS, orphans and very sick people bed driven.

We suggest for transport to help in transporting drama group for better sensitization
and for Visit of members in different places.
