During The River Fund's September visit to Uganda and site visits to our projects, we were hand delivered reports from the various women's groups. This is from the Bugiri Group in their own words.
Naitosi/ Nanderema Widows Development Farmers Association
The project has existed since 2009.
The beneficiaries as per 2016 are 165 Orphans and 65 Widows
The Association runs the following projects:
Achievements|
• Registration with ministry of trade and industry.
• Acquisition of skills to advance the crafts industry
• Improvement of household income through industry.
• Moral and character change among orphans.
• Guidance and counseling services to the HIV/AIDS affected and infected people.
• Physical material support to the disadvantaged.
• Opening up an Account with Finance Trust Bank.
Challenges
• Inadequate funding to run project activities
• No cameras for photo records.
• Over whelming number of applicants.
• Early marriage (high School drop outs)
• No computers for vital information.
• Lack of land on which to construct offices and other project operations.
• Use of subsistence farming methods and poor tools.
• Lack of transport means to visit and monitor members health and projects.
• Unreliable weather conditions.
• Lack of functional materials like tents, chairs cooking utensils e.tc.

The beneficiaries come from the various places of Bugiri District which include; Naitosi, Nanderema, Buyubu, Naigoma, Naluya Kamango,Kikabala, 1zira, Bukiri villages.
