Empower AIDS Widows - Save a Community

I take this moment to appreciate and also register the achievements of the projects initiated by Rayland Rural Development Organisation which have been the commitment of the members of rural communities, local leaders and development partners, local and international. 

We are happy for the support and involvement of all our friends, donors and partner Jaya Canterbury Count the Executive Director of River Fund from Florida USA whose continuous effort has contributed to wellbeing and hope for the bright future of these vulnerable children and women in Tororo, busia and Bugiri districts.

Thanks to Global Giving staff and team for the tremendous support they extended towards us which changed the lives of vulnerable women, children, persons with disabilities and PLWAS contributed to their education, health and economic empowerment.

Through the support of US $10,000 in March 2013 that we received, we managed to:

• Provide uniforms, scholastic materials and sanitation supplies to over 600 Orphans and other Vulnerable Children which enabled them complete their schooling last year.

Additional funding of US $7,000 enabled women in Tororo, Bugiri and Busia to grow enough vegetables at their kitchen gardens and thus improved their livelihoods at grass roots levels. Funding also helped us to continue training another 30 women for four months in tailoring skills and 10 out these are independent and now have opened their own tailoring business which will help them raise some income to tender for their families.

During the last quarter of the year 2013 in August together with our partners we held a refresher workshop for 10 Trainers of Trainers in HIV/AIDS Long Term Survival Skills & Stress Management Training. This also included visiting our 6 different women groups in the three districts in eastern Uganda  and thereafter Kitgum women groups in Northern Uganda.

These entire achievements have been possible because of your support and we give our gratitude to donors.

More young women have enrolled for non-formal skills training which will include tailoring, tie and dye, solar cooker making, catering, and hair dressing, but we are yet handicapped due to lack of funds.
