Care for the elderly women

Most of these elderly are widows, very old and care for orphans. Some are sickly. We make sure they eat and get treatment as we encourage and care for the orphans they keep. Posho, beans or any other like cassava flour are provided

Care for child headed families

Since every school age going go to school. These are given food for eating at home and at school being a special group. Uniforms and others clothes are given to them including soap, and all other necessary needs, whenever funds are received our kind donors.

HIV/AIDS (Long term survival skills)

All our women leaders are fully trained in long term survival skills, they are very helpful to the groups they lead and communities surrounded. They have self awareness and they have no stigma.

Guidance and counseling is always done to members concerned and those in needs. Most people around us have overcome stress.

Drama

This group is very special in our groups. It has trained many people not to fear HIV/AIDS when they see their drama and singing. Communities and people are self-aware of themselves due to the drama group. It has educated many people as they watch their activities.

Agriculture

It’s our base in all our four groups. Most people depend on agriculture to get food. For us members we all practice agriculture. We grow crops like sweet potato, Irish potatoes, millet, sorghum, cassava, ground nuts, green vegetables etc.

Tree planting

It is ongoing project which is done by al members. We get timeliness for sell, firewood, and charcoal.

Local poultry

Local poultry is easy for our women. Each one does is in her own way in numbers they can manage but we keep on encouraging them to vaccinate them using the veterinary officers. We get eggs and sell of the cocks and hence as a source of small income for the needs of the family.

Home visits

Visitations are mostly done to the elderly women who are HIV/AIDS positive then the child headed family. These groups always need guidance and counseling according to their ways of life, needs and demands of life.

Day care centers

Since Covid period disrupted things are not good but we are trying to overcome this problem. The elderly and children are treated in the same way because of their demands which are almost alike besides going to school is only for the school age going. Our counselors are the trained members.

Challenges

Our second season started late with a drought then rain was received late, the yield was then poor. We could not get seeds for planting in the first season which we will begin planting in February.

Developments

The children are beginning on the 9th of Feb. we are busy buying maize and beans for children, uniforms are being bought and made before that day.

Scholastic materials will be given to our children so that by the time schools begin they will be equipped.

We received funds from our donors through the River Fund that is why we are very busy looking forward to getting  the needs of our children in time.

Suggestions

On behalf of the women I suggest that we equip women with seeds for planting in May so that they get ready for planting in July in time for better yield to avoid losing seeds.

Right now our women are planting the seeds they got but it was not enough.
