CARE FOR ELDERLY WOMEN
We take of these widowed elderly women. Most of them lost their daughters and sons who left them with children that need help.
Our concern is to give them food and make sure children go to school, and get them with needs for education.
As we got money in August to buy food and seeds for planting and buying food for our women we gave them extra food because they are very needy.
The funding was from our donors through River Fund.
EDUCATION OF CHILDREN
We are in term three of learning of our children and they are at school right now, there is no disturbance in our children’s learning they are getting on smoothly.
CARE FOR CHILD HEADED FAMILIES
These children live alone and they care for themselves, we are very keen on them.
We make sure that they are not stressed and we try to give them love and take the position of their lost parents since we are the members of River Fund we keep our motto to help those in need.
HEALTH CARE
HIV/AIDS (long term survival skills)
This group lives positively and has abandoned stress and stigma. It is the group from which our drama group originates. The trained members always visit these members to counsel and make sure they practice long term survival skills and that they survive through these skills.
We make sure they attend clinic days without fail and some of them are volunteers in the art department to write with clinic offers to arrange files and give out medicine on clinic days.
DRAMA
This group is our tool in sensitization of AIDS / HIV.
Members live positively and freely
They sensitize the community on HIV/ AIDS through music, dance and drama. And this has educated our communities a lot, there is no stress, people live knowing what they are (self-awareness)
AGRICULTURE
Our basic way of life
We get food through agriculture practice
This season looks fare because the seeds planted are doing well.
These are beans, maize, ground nuts, soya and green vegetables. There is rain now in this season, whatever planted is growing well.
GOAT REARING
It is at small scale but it is doing well. At least every member has a goat in her home and able to take care of it, it is easy to keep and maintain.
LOCAL POULTRY
We have tried very much to train our members to practice local poultry
One can eat and egg or sell it and sell a hen or a cock and get a small income and to this every member practices. They are small and easy to maintain.
HOME VISIT
We visit our members especially those who need counseling or take drugs, for those that have problems sometimes take them for treatment when sick and take food for them.
We also visit the elderly and take food for them.
Sometimes wash their clothes and take them for treatment when they are sick.
DAY CARE CENTRES
These are just coming up Covid affected them a lot but we are trying to maintain them.
FEES TOP UP
This is done to those very needy especially children in the family of the old women and very needy children and withdrawals are made we always keep for them the top up of school fees.
DEVELOPMENTS
Our crops are doing well and we expect good yields the season is good
All our children are at school and those in no disturbance in learning are going on smoothly.
We gave some food to our children and their parents when we received funds from our donors.
CHALLENGES
We had a long drought and we faced a challenge of having no food in the last season.
SUGGESTION
We are planning for next year 2023. Our prayers is to pray for our kind donors to be well so that we keep touch to at school, and get scholastic materials funds are released .
