Our activities
Care for the elderly widows.
We take care of them by giving them food health care, take them for, treatment, save money on our account for emergences mostly we pay their bills for treatment examples our old sickly Blandina, we have never ignored her calls when she is sick.
Good news we have constructed a semi-permanent house for an elderly women this is Suzan. She had a very poor temporal hut linking, sleeping was hard for her. She now leaves happily the house is still mud when mud dries up we shall put cement and sand on it and make the floor. * See photos attached.
Care for OVC and child head families.
We make sure these children go to school; provide them maize, beans to feed at school and at home. This is for child headed families.
Scholastic materials and uniforms are provided for them using funds from our donors. We also care for children of members. We make sure they attend clinics.
Drama / HIV/AIDS (Sensitization in the community). This is our sensitization in the community through plays related to HIV/AID in lively.
Singing songs related to HIV/AIDS in a form of counseling and teaching the deadly diseases.
Monitor the well being of sex workers. We have made these to be our friends. We have discovered that they need courage and need to be introduced to family planning this is headed by our house and we try with sex workers at busia border.
They are also mothers and fathers of their children we are continuing to strengthen our friends with them to meet those with children and see how we can work with them to meet those with them and we have encouraged theses people to register their group.
Our friend Jaya visited us last October from 5th -10-2019. They were very happy she helped them and paid for their registration fee, this is great.
Agriculture
Agriculture is our base in our groups. We have always given out seeds like maize, group nuts, sukuma, garlic, and for agriculture, we received funds from our donors in August 2019 but we may not get good yield due to much rain and very little sunshine, crops are not doing well.
Health
We make sure our women, children and the elderly around our communities keep healthy, encourage them on the balanced diet and encourage them to go for early treatment whenever they fail, sick, practice the skills of long term survival skills. They have been sensitized and gone through.
Tree planting
Despite the fact that all the four groups practice tree planting Tororo groups is our standing because they have gone as far as attending the Climate Change workshop for tree planting in Kenya as we are preparing for a workshop in the nearest future if funds are realized from our dear donors.
Plowing
On such country programs, ploughs and bulls have been given out. In Tororo and some members in Rwen groups.
Our prayers is that it spreads in all groups so that our agriculture activity because easily.
Local poultry
Most members practice this project is easily managed and it is not costly, one can get an egg to sell or a hen, a cock to get some little money to earn a living or eat.
Heifer
In all our groups we had got 3 heifer, two have died and one t has a heifer milk is there.
Piggery – local
This project is on in our group. These animals are difficult to keep, not all members have them but a few.
Local got rearing
Most people (members) in our four groups keep local goats. They can easily be managed members fund it easily to keep them. One can sell and get some little to help her children.
Referrals
We always refer our youth, women for course like hair dressing, tailoring, that is in saloon and other place.
Some have learnt what they have been trained in hair dressing some have made their small saloons to earn a living at a small scale.
Visitors
We received our friend Maama Jaya as our visitor from 5th -10-October.
We had very good time with her for a week. Mama we are very grateful.
We have a lot of rain and our crops are not doing because hey lack sun shine.
Developments
We planted a lot of maize, beans, sukuma, garlic, green vegetable, from funds from our donors.
Suggestions
We suggest that work shops be run thus tree planting, charcoal making long term survival skills / HIV/AIDS
Training
Healthy training for a girl-child using a pad for along time repeat washing after use.
Among all suggestion scholastic materials, uniforms and children’s food stands the first priority because will begin after December which is over near.
