Junior Achievement USA is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA programs ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century. In addition, 92% of JA alumni are confident that they can compete successfully in a business environment.
High school graduates are more likely to live productive lives and contribute to American economic competitiveness. Yet, every day, an estimated 7,000 students drop out of high school. The dropout crisis in America has a devastating impact on the health of our economy. Young people who drop out are twice as likely as graduates to be unemployed and three times as likely to live in poverty. JA programs contribute to the vitality of communities and the availability of a well-educated workforce.
JA programs, from kindergarten through high school, give students the confidence and competence to compete in a business environment and our programs contribute to a well-educated workforce. The research used to support the grouping of programs under JA Graduation Pathways resonates with our donors, providing them an opportunity to directly support our strategy developed to address low graduation rates, a critically important societal issue. It's been proven that students who receive JA six times during their school career are 90% more likely to graduate from high school. The goal of our project will be for youth to develop attitudes aligned with high school graduation and 21st century skills that prepare them for success. In addition, JA programs improve student academic performance and achievement leading to increased graduation rates.
