2016 started quietly for our organization. The programs to empower 2,700 women and young people in Edo State still await funding opportunities. We looked on to other alternative and signed-up for the Global Giving challenge to win a fundraising platform in their organization. It was a tough task as ESWA had to be vetted and fully assessed to pass their due diligent procedure before been accepted to take part in the first fundraising campaign. ESWA was to raise a minimum of £2,500 from 50 donors to be accepted in Global Giving funding platform. “Every hand was on deck” We did campaign and raised £2,700 plus from 64 donors. ESWA is now member of Global Giving and now have better opportunity to raise more funds to achieve its funding goals.
The goal is to raise £100,000.00 to run its programs across the three-senatorial district of Edo State with a goal of benefiting 2,700 people in:
- Vocational training in Early Childhood Development, financial literacy, cleaning entrepreneurship.
- Business mentoring
- Business loan
Eki, one of our UK directors have step down her position, to take on the role of program coordinator and relocated to Nigeria to work on the organization program full time. We are believing that this move will contribute greatly to the smooth running and sustainability of ESWA programs in Nigeria.
She will start consultation exercises with communities across the three-senatorial district of Edo state while the organization continue fundraising exercise to raise the rest of the funds needed to run the programs.
