As we approach the beginning of the second academic term, excitement and renewed motivation fill Shelter Them Academy as 222 students prepare to resume their studies. These children come from vulnerable communities and continue their educational journey in a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment designed to help them grow academically and personally. Among the students, 104 children aged between 3 and 6 years are enrolled in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) program, including three children living with disabilities who receive inclusive support tailored to their needs. In addition, 118 students are enrolled in Primary One through Primary Three, where they continue building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development. As the new term begins, all students are preparing with enthusiasm and determination to continue learning and achieving their dreams.

During this period, the focus remains on ensuring that every child has access to comprehensive education supported by appropriate school materials and learning resources. Essential supplies such as books, scholastic materials, and classroom tools are critical to enhancing participation, creativity, and academic success. Providing these materials allows students to fully engage in lessons, strengthen their confidence, and develop key skills necessary for long-term success. Shelter Them Academy continues to offer a safe and protective environment where children learn, play, and grow with dignity. Our holistic approach integrates education, protection, nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, and health support to ensure that each child’s overall well-being is addressed. This environment enables children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to thrive and reach their full potential.

The commitment of our donors remains central to sustaining these efforts. Their generous support allows us to maintain quality education standards, provide inclusive learning opportunities, and ensure that all students have the materials they need to continue their studies successfully. As the year draws to a close, the festive Christmas season brings a sense of excitement and accomplishment for the 104 children in our Early Childhood Development (ECD) program. With the holiday break fast approaching, the children are enthusiastically preparing for their annual Christmas presentation, a special event where they will showcase songs, dances and creative performances in front of their parents and the entire school staff. This celebration not only strengthens their confidence but also fosters a sense of community and pride in their achievements.

Throughout this period, the children continue to participate in a variety of enriching activities. Classroom learning is combined with festive arts and crafts, music practice, and storytelling to help them develop creativity, communication skills, and teamwork. For many, this is a joyful highlight of the year, offering opportunities to express themselves and celebrate their learning in a warm, supportive environment.

As we approach the transition into the new year, our older children are preparing for the important step of moving on to their final term in the program. Meanwhile, the younger ones continue to build a strong foundation in early literacy, numeracy, social skills, and emotional development. Our objective remains consistent: to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and holistic early childhood development experience grounded in our five core pillars: learning, protection, nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, and health.

The commitment of our donors continues to play a central role in the success of our program. Their support enables us to maintain a safe learning environment, strengthen our teaching team, and ensure the children have access to quality learning materials and nutritious meals each day. Every contribution helps us uphold the standard of care that allows children from rural and disadvantaged communities to learn, thrive, and dream boldly.

This great holiday season marks the transition from the second term to the third and final term of the year. It is a joyful moment for the 106 children in our Early Childhood Development (ECD) program, as they enjoy their annual Holiday Camp. During this time, the children take part in a variety of enriching activities such as reading workshops, sports, acrobatics, and creative arts. These experiences not only entertain but also help develop essential skills in a fun, stimulating environment.

For our older children, this is also a time of important milestones. At the start of September, those in the final year of the program will move on to Grade 1 in primary school, an exciting new chapter in their educational journey. Simultaneously, the ECD will welcome 30 new three-year-olds into our care, marking the beginning of their learning adventure.

Our objective remains to provide an early childhood development program focused on the critical early years of life, within a safe and nurturing environment. We aim to help children grow into happy, confident, self-reliant individuals who can contribute positively to their communities. Our program is built on five core pillars: learning, protection, nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, and health, ensuring a holistic approach to their well-being and healthy growth.

The role of our donors remains vital in sustaining and enhancing our services. Continued support helps us strengthen our infrastructure, expand staffing capacity, and provide essential learning materials. Every contribution directly improves the quality of education and care we can offer. By standing with us, donors are giving children from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to overcome the barriers of poverty and build a brighter, more promising future
