We are excited to report wonderful progress! Your gifts have enabled us to add a second level to the Bonnie Memorial Children's Home in Sierra Leone. The original level is housing children who lost their parents to the Ebola crisis - we have been able to provide food, shelter, medical care, and education for these children. The second level will house children who lost their parents in the mudslides last year.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support! Please consider joining with us to support one or more of these children on a regular basis - a regular gift of $35/month can support one orphan.
On September 11, 2017, the first twenty orphaned children moved into the Bonnie Memorial Children's Home in Sierra Leone! Thanks to you, we were able to finish construction on this multi-story home, build furniture such as benches and beds, and find houseparents to help care for the children. The recent flooding and mudslides in the area amplified the need, and children orphaned from this new tragedy have joined the Ebola orphans at the home. Thank you so much for your donations and your support - YOU provided hope in a tangible way for the children.
We continue to raise monthly support for the childrens' food and shelter, and for additional furniture needs such as a large dining table at which the children can eat. There are not enough words to say thank you for your support on this project - we truly appreciate your partnership which has allowed us to care for the littlest victims of the tragedies in Sierra Leone.
The Bonnie Memorial Children's Home at Kondie Farm is gradually coming to reality, and we are excited about the progress that is being made. The plastering of the building inside and outside is almost completed. Metal windows and doors are currently being installed, and electrical and plumbing work will start right after the plastering is completed. We have engaged carpenters to hand-make beds, tables and chairs. We anticipate that the structure will be ready for the children to move in at the end of June or early July.
Thank you for your continued support of this project - we couldn't do it without you!
The building phase of the Ebola Orphanage, recently named the Bonnie Memorial Children’s Home (BMCH) is still on- going. We have completed construction and installation of lumber, pillars and arches. The next step is to install steel rods, after which the concrete will be poured and the basement roof will be completed. Then we plan to install windows, doors, plaster, plumbing, and electrical. Finally, we will move in the furniture, beds, tables, chairs, kitchen utensils, etc. for the children to move in.
We have staff selected to work at the orphanage (the Matron, Cleaner, and Cook) and they are on standby as construction is completed. We are anticipating that about 15 of the 25 orphans can move in after the completion of the basement and when we complete the next floor the rest of the Ebola orphans can move in.
The Bonnie Memorial Children’s Home for Ebola orphans is much closer to reality. Arches for the front of the building and Roman columns for the back veranda are in progress. The next step is to pour a ceiling for the basement. We are hoping to finish strong so that by the start of 2017 we can move in 25 children orphaned by the Ebola crisis.
We are more than two-thirds of the way there! Your donations made this terrific progress possible. Can you help us finish the last of the construction? Please share any way you can; small or large gifts...every penny counts. Sacrificing for others is worth it. "Your deeds are your monuments" –Inscription on an Egyptian tomb.
