Dear Eat Better South Africa supporters,

Eat Better South Africa was honoured and priviliedged to be represented at  Low Carb USA, one of the biggest low carb events of the year! Dr Hassina Kajee (Board of Directors, The Noakes Foundation and Co-founder of Eat Better South Africa) took the stage to discuss the important and often over-looked topic of 'Communication in Health Education: How Well Do You Know Your Patient?' and showcased some of the work Eat Better South Africa has been doing this year.

As part of our  fundraising initiative at Low Carb USA, Eat Better South Africa hosted a raffle with fantastic prize giveaways! A very big thank you to Doug Reynolds and the amazing team at Low Carb USA, and to all the attendees who supported us at our stand! By partnering with Low Carb USA and various other international affiliates, we are embodying our belief in how we are better together.

On the 9th of August Eat Better South Africa was priviledged to be part of Eagles Nest Ministries' Women's Day Charity Luncheon. Eat Better South Africa was able to showcase some of their work and one of our representatives, Jana Retief, spoke on the topic of women's health and and some of the Eat Better South Africa community programs.

On the 17th of August Eat Better South Africa had a community event in Atlantis where the team screened the film Cereal Killers to help create awareness on the dangers of hidden sugars and refined carbohydrates. During the month of September, there will also be a 6 week health challenge that will be launched with the community group in Atlantis.

Another highlight for Eat Better South Africa is that phase two of the PhD study by the research team from The University of Cape Town is well under way!  Eat Better South Africa is currently busy with a community project in an under-resouced community in the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town which forms part of the research study. The aims of this study are to provide information which can be used to improve the implementation, translation and sustainability of the Eat Better South Africa program, and to justify whether and how we should conduct a larger study to evaluate the effectiveness of the program in improving diet and health outcomes.

We believe this project will have a direct impact on women's health and wellbeing from under-resourced communities, but also an indirect impact on the broader community because education and behaviour change might translate to the ones around those women attending the Eat Better South Africa program.

Eat Better South Africa relies both on the generosity of our donors and proceeds from our affiliate program. Every donation ensures that we are able to continue making significant strides within our communities, where nutrition interventions are needed the most.

Help be part of the answer by supporting our campaign at https://goto.gg/35282

We would like to extend a big "thank you" to each and every one of you for your continued support in changing lives, one community at a time.
