Since 2023, the organization has conducted a program supporting children with type 1 diabetes in Ukraine. During this time, the foundation has formed a community of 230 families who regularly receive assistance for their children. The Foundation plans to increase the number of families receiving assistance under this program to 300 by 2026.
Communicating with parents reveals that the most essential items for a child with type 1 diabetes are an insulin pump (along with pump supplies) and continuous glucose monitoring sensors. These devices greatly facilitate monitoring the child's condition and reduce the risk of adverse effects of the disease.
However, purchasing and using these devices is expensive, and not every Ukrainian family can afford them. The most proactive parents turn to social media for help, but this practice is not widespread. Our organization helps such families raise funds for their child's treatment. Every month, ten new families contact us about holding a fundraiser for their child. Another 10-15 families who have previously received assistance from the fund also contact us each month. There is a long line of people wishing to donate because the collection rate has dropped significantly. Our fund has had to create a mechanism for attracting new donors to fulfill requests for assistance.
