As you, our donors know, we began work on a new Health Clinic in Chanauti after the earthquake in 2015 destroyed the exisiting clinic. We resumed volunteer acupuncture treatments in a makeshift temporary clinic over a year ago. Both volunteers and patients were incredibly courageous to work and get treatment in a drafty and somewhat cool space while they patiently waited for the new clinic. This year volunteers began work in the new clinic and last month, it got a beautiful facelift!
Juiliana King, a MMW volunteer, had an artist friend named Gus Harper, whose work is shown here, who was visiting several countries in Asia doing a mural project. He happily agreed to come to the Chanaute Clinic to create a mural on the walls of our new clinic. Gus used images of local patients and villagers to inspire his work on the walls. The bright colors and commotion soon caused much excitement in the village. Everyone came looking to see what kind of special attention the clinic was recieving. The vilagers became Gus's muses and he beautifully rendered their images in his work as you can see.
We are so grateful to Gus and to the effort and artistry that he brought to the Chanute Clinic. It is a special place in our hearts and now that is clearly seen in the eyes of all who pass by. Thank you to all our donors and friends who made this happen.
Season's Greetings to All!
