Four months after the earthquake struck La Guaira, Venezuela, families are still facing significant challenges. Although the emergency is no longer making headlines, the needs of affected communities remain.
At Coromoto 2020, our commitment continues.
What we have achieved so far?
Working alongside our local partners, including Cáritas La Guaira and the Diócese of La Guaira, our emergency response had been delivered as of 31 July 2026:
We have also distributed mattresses, clothing, solar-powered equipment and other essential supplies to affected communities.
These efforts have been possible thanks to the generosity of people like you, who chose to support La Guaira when help was urgently needed. Thank you for being part of this collective response.
Strengthening our response through partnerships
In London we began mobilising support through our community, bringing together volunteers, businesses and organisations to collect essential humanitarian supplies for families affected by the earthquakes.
Through our partnerships with Venezuelan Relief UK, a UK-registered charity, this effort grew into a wider humanitarian aid initiative.
In early September, one tonne of humanitarian aid was sent to Venezuela by air, followed later that month by a sea shipment of approximately 22 tonnes of essential supplies.
We have also received humanitarian aid from Spain, extending this collective effort beyond the United Kingdom and demonstrating the solidarity of communities across borders.
Our work continues on several fronts.
While we continue providing emergency assistance, including recovery kits for affected children, we are also strengthening our long-term recovery efforts.
In partnership with Cáritas La Guaira, three parish-based community kitchens are now providing lunch to 300 people each weekday. Meals are prepared by local volunteers, helping families who continue to face food insecurity following the earthquakes.
These kitchens are an important step towards community recovery, bringing together local volunteers, parish networks and essential food assistance. Our priority is to sustain this work while developing longer-term solutions, including improved access to safe drinking water through a proposed water purification system and stronger community resilience.
But the need for assistance remains immense, and continued support is essential to sustain these efforts and reach more families.
You can be part of the recovery!
We have been encoutaged by individual, business and community groups organising their own fundraising initiatives, from yoga classes, art exhibitions and cultural events to sponsored runs.
One of our latest initiatives is a 5K fundraising run supported by the EY company, which has offered to match eligible donations up to £1,000, doubling the impact of contributions within that limit.
Would you like to join us for the run or support the campaign? Whether you run, walk or make a donation, you can help make a difference for families in La Guaira.

Perhaps your company would also like to get involved through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, employee fundraising or match giving, as EY has done. Or maybe you have an idea for a fundraising event, a community gathering or a sporting challenge?
We would love to hear from you! Every initiative, large or small, can help us continue supporting families in La Guaira.
Thank you to every donor, volunteer and partner who continues to make this work possible.
