Dear supporters,

two years after the earthquake in Nepal we want to close this project. Thank you so much that you supported our work so far. We invite you to look after the other projects which we are running here on GlobalGiving.

I want to end with a positive story from Sugu, living in Nepal:

The 52-year-old Sugu  lives with her two daughters in Arubot, in the Nepalese district of Lalitpur. Since the death of her husband, Sugu feeds the family alone. When her house was destroyed by the earthquake in 2015, she moved into an emergency shelter from Wellbech and Planen. Now they can look forward to a "real" house.

"My two daughters are 14 and 17 years old. After the earthquake in which our house was destroyed, we have built a makeshift shelter of tarpaulins and corrugated iron. This is where we live since, because it is difficult to save the money for a new house, especially since I have to look after the family alone since the death of my husband. We set up the emergency shelter on land that does not belong to us. We did not know how to help. A few weeks ago, the owners announced that they needed the country now. Now we should undress as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, we are one of the beneficiaries of the reconstruction project of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe and its partner organization LUMANTI: We have recently been working on the construction of our new home. It will be an earthquake-proof, bricked house with two rooms. My daughters and I work hard to get ready quickly. The walls are already standing as far as the window. Two years after the earthquake, we will finally have a proper home again! "

Thank's a lot for your support,

Michael Tuerk
