Our December 2019 campaign to raise funds to help our village-led Centre Management Committees (CMCs) in Uganda with the costs of operating and maintaining their IREAD ECD Centres was an outstanding success!
We raised $64,250 CAD—far surpassing our goal of $30,000--which was doubled thanks to a dollar-for-dollar match from The Jaffer Foundation. That's $128,500 to help with school fees, school uniforms, lunch programs, teacher training and upgrading, and school maintenance.
IREAD is focused on changing the lives of Ugandan and Pakistani children by giving them access to early childhood development. We have ambitious plans for 2020. We expect 2,500 enrolments in IREAD ECD Centres this year, up from 1,700 children in 2019, and we’re building another three schools in Uganda and two in Pakistan, which will bring us to 13 schools in Uganda and 13 in Pakistan by early 2021.
