People living with Parkinson’s disease in our community continue to face significant challenges, including discrimination, fatigue, limited access to healthcare, and a lack of social support. As the number of people affected continues to grow, so does the need for urgent assistance.

The number of patients registered with our organization continues to rise, while the cost of Parkinson’s medications has increased sharply due to high inflation in the country. For many families, the cost of treatment has become simply unaffordable. Patients living in rural areas are particularly vulnerable, as they often struggle to access essential medications because of both high prices and limited availability.

We are also receiving an increasing number of calls from people living with Parkinson’s disease in different parts of the country who are reaching out to our organization for help accessing their medications. Sadly, due to our limited capacity and financial resources, we are unable to respond to all these requests. It is heartbreaking to know that so many people need support but that we cannot yet reach everyone who turns to us for help.

Although donations received through GlobalGiving over the past two months have been lower than we had hoped, every contribution has made a real difference. Thanks to the continued support of our main donors, we have been able to maintain medication assistance for patients who depend on this support in Addis Ababa. For many of them, receiving their medication means more than just continuing treatment; it brings hope, reassurance, and the strength to keep managing their condition despite the challenges they face.

We remain committed to reaching more people living with Parkinson’s disease and ensuring that those who need help are not left behind. With additional funding, we hope to respond to more requests, extend medication assistance to underserved communities, and ease the financial burden on families struggling to afford essential treatment.

Thank you for standing with people living with Parkinson’s disease, supporting our mission, and helping us make a meaningful difference in their lives.
