As originally planned, the organization aimed to raise USD 10,000 to support Parkinson’s patients with essential medication. Unfortunately, over an extended period, we were only able to raise USD 116 through the GlobalGiving platform. While this amount may appear small, it is important to recognize that raising any level of funding in the current global and local economic climate is extremely challenging, and we sincerely appreciate the contributions made by our donors.
At the same time, Parkinson’s patients in Ethiopia are facing serious health and financial crises. The continuous rise in drug costs, combined with limited income and insufficient health coverage, has placed many patients and their families in a very difficult position. Access to essential medication has become increasingly unaffordable, and many patients are at risk of deterioration without consistent treatment.
The USD 116 raised was used to cover the cost of medication for one Parkinson’s patient for a period of two months. This support brought significant relief to the patient and their family, reducing both their financial burden and emotional distress. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the donors and to the GlobalGiving platform for making this assistance possible.
Despite ongoing financial constraints and significant funding shortages, the Parkinson Patients Support Organization Ethiopia continues to make every possible effort to assist those in need. Although the support provided is currently below the expected level due to limited resources, we remain committed to our mission. We continue to seek additional partnerships, funding opportunities, and awareness campaigns in order to expand our assistance and reach more patients in the future.
