In the last report , the community and supporting volunteer Engineers from the Propeople Engineers and Leaders for the people (PROPEL) are searching sites for a new bore hole hoping one would lead to finding the much-sought water source for the community.
Earlier analysis of the surrounding areas showed that big commercial centers like shopping mall and subdivisions are taking in too much water to serve their needs. This has depleted the aquifer level that extracting water for adequate supply requires digging deeper to reach to the bottom of the water source. Commercial entities fortunately have the resources to do this. The rapid urbanization of the sorrounding areas increases the demand for water that's getting hard to find.
The urbanizing set up also necessitates clearing areas of shrubs and secondary growth species that could have serve as small scale water catchment. With real estate development this too have suffered.
Nevertheless, the community ,SIBAT and PROPEL have no choice but to engage a professional water drilling outfit to drill potential areas for water. The surface water identified earlier was a bit far from farms and household that it is deemed appropriate to find water close to the cluster of houses. The river tributary also earlier identified is 50 feet above ground and is inadequate to serve the demand of the households and farms.
Currently the drilling operations is still going on inching closer to a hundred feet and probably beyond. Hopefully water would be found and the next costs would be developing the pipe distribution system, tap stands for level 11 water access system and building a 6 cubic meter concrete water tank
We are inviting again our GlobalGiving donors to support this project for farmers who need this water most for domestic and farm use.
