Access to safe drinking water remains one of the most pressing challenges in the drought-affected region of Tharparkar. For many communities, both humans and animals struggle daily due to severe water scarcity, making survival increasingly difficult. Women and children often travel long distances under extreme heat just to fetch water, while livestock—an essential source of livelihood—suffers due to the lack of clean water.
To address this critical need, Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) has constructed 2,500+ water wells and hand pumps across Tharparkar and surrounding areas. These efforts have ensured access to safe and hygienic drinking water for thousands of people and their animals, significantly reducing hardship and improving daily living conditions.
Each well serves as a lifeline for entire communities, transforming lives by providing a reliable source of water. Families are experiencing better health and hygiene, children can focus more on education, and livestock—crucial for income and survival—are being sustained through these water sources.
Despite this progress, the need for clean water remains urgent in many underserved areas. CHCS is committed to continuing this mission and expanding its reach, ensuring that more communities in Tharparkar have access to this essential resource.
With sincere gratitude,
