All children have a right to play, they learn to live life through Play and it's essential to their all-round emotional and physical well-being especially for children with a disability. However in Ireland there is a total lack of play facilities for disabled children and this is heart-breaking for the disabled child, siblings, parent as having a disabled child is a disabled family. Now Share a Dream are going to build Ireland's first all inclusive Fun Center for special children called Dreamland.
In Ireland there is a total lack of accessible play facilities for disabled children and so over 70,000 children have no where to play and according to the UN this is wrong and discriminating against them. Dreamland will allow sick and disabled children to play alongside their brothers and sisters in a safe and accessible Fun Center and just have fun!
Dreamland will be the first ever fully accessible and all inclusive play center where no child sick or disabled will feel different and for a short time they will forget their painful treatments, hospitalisations, loneliness, disappointments, fears and trade them in for fun, laughter, friendship, love and sacks full of happy memories with their siblings and friends,a magical place where all children and families will feel welcome. For the first time ever these children will have somewhere to play
Dreamland will break down the barriers that are there at present for disabled children and their families. It will mean that no longer will families with a disabled and able bodied child have to choose where to go as in Dreamland they can all go together. We want Ireland to lead the way in inclusivity and encourage everyone to get rid of the word Disability and replace it with Inclusivity. At present 70,000 children in Ireland who have no where to play will benefit from this project.
