Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well.
We just wanted to update you on the work that the Rwanda Down Syndrome Organisation (RDSO) has been doing so far in 2023.
Employment report
Throughout 2022 RDSO worked hard to write an employment report, looking at barriers and good practices in the employment of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities in Rwanda.
The report writing process involved desk-based research and interviews of people with Down syndrome, family members and employers to understand their experiences and perspectives.
Carrying out this kind of research was a new experience for RDSO, so DSi provided intensive support with the process.
The report has now been published in English and Kinyarwada and RDSO are planning to hold a webinar soon to share its findings.
Impact of employment advocacy
As a result of the recent employment advocacy carried out by RDSO, one of their self-advocates has been given an internship opportunity in a shop that makes handicrafts (see picture above).
Thank you to all our donors whose generous donations make continuing work like this possible!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
