Fiscal year 2016 marks DoveLewis’ third straight year of growth in services and finances. We remain committed to helping as many animals and their people as possible, and with your help, we did just that.
Last year we treated 14,962 patients
We are proud to note that during this year, the hospital was awarded the highest level of certification specifically for emergency and critical care hospitals. We join the ranks of only 38 VECCS Level 1 facilities in the nation and are the only VECCS certified facility of any level in Oregon, highlighting our ongoing commitment to excellence.
As a 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital, we are prepared to treat a variety of cases and offer the best care we can. This year we saw some especially interesting cases – one which was so heartwarming (Ollie’s Miracle Recovery) that it was featured in news stories nationally and internationally, and another (Taro) that illustrates both the extraordinary skill of our medical staff combined with the life-changing impact of one of our key community programs, the Blood Bank.
Thanks to you, our community programs continue to grow and serve pets and their people and veterinary professionals here in Portland and beyond. Of special note was the expansion during this fiscal year of the Velvet Assistance Fund, in which we were able to serve nearly 100 more families and their beloved pets than the prior year.
During this fiscal year, we also celebrated the 30th anniversary of our Pet Loss Support Program. The first of its kind, the program is still lead by its founder, Enid Traisman, and we remain committed to our unique role in helping grieving pet owners and pro-viding support to veterinary professionals.
